[wiki:Squawk] is a text and voice chat program geared towards [wiki:Quake2World gamers]. It uses the [http://speex.org Speex] codec for voice audio compression, [http://alsa-project.org ALSA] for sound input and output, and [http://www.gnu.org/software/ncurses GNU/ncurses] to provide a simple text interface. It is my hope that [wiki:Squawk] will eventually provide a Free alternative to Teamspeak and Ventrilo. While far from complete, [wiki:Squawk] is in proof-of-concept state, and provides basic text and voice chat functionality at the time of writing this (May 2007). There are currently no releases for this project. Please use the anonymous Subversion access to obtain the source code. Subversion: svn://jdolan.dyndns.org/squawk
