Every couple of months it seems we encroach upon the limits of what Quake2's .bsp format can handle. This purpose of this page is to capture these things so that if a new .bsp format is created, it can address all of our previously identified needs.

  • Baked in vertex normal, tangent, and bitangent vectors for Phong shading, Dot3-bump mapping, etc.
  • Lightmap resolution as part of lighting lump or bsp header.
  • Increased level bounds?
  • Remove light styles?
