Hi Everyone=D One thing that I absolutely loved about quake 2's graphics was how it was capable of producing incredible shadows. What I mean is, the shadows contained a realistic aspect to it, the aspect being that the shadows would blend in and out perfectly from dark to light, without any crooked lines that I sometimes see in other games. You can check out what I mean in these two screenshots, here: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2471/3660859485_5d051c5808_o.jpg I circled what I'm talking about in this link, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lend82/3661663786/sizes/o/ I find this amazing, because for a game that came out in only 1997(hint, hint sarcasm=D), quake 2 comes amazingly close to reproducing what I see what real life graphics aka nature's renderer can do, as seen in one of my pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lend82/3651098845/sizes/o/ Even though this pic was taking with mad colors in it, it still illustrates my point: the fautless blend of degrees of light. Anyways, I haven't seen a q2w map that has shading(in the traditional sense) like mentioned above, nor am I a mapper and feel that I cannot find out for myself whether or not, so i was wondering: can q2w produce shading as beautiful as quake 2 can? I know q2w is loosely based off the q2 engine, but I was still curious. Here are two more screenshots that show quake 2's shading and lighting prowess: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3399/3661654722_0f45144628.jpg and http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2589/3661654690_99a4008f13.jpg Thanks for reading this thread, peaceeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!=D |
Traduction: Is q2w able to do shadows and/or light spots?
Answer: Yes, with relative ease. However, there's nothing in the way to make them soft.

ahh ok, I guess that feature was lost:O(
If you just did that map dood, the lighting was excellent!!
